Introduction
The Landscape Master Plan for AURIC Shendra is a sustainable conceptual master plan for a greenfield smart industrial city on the DMIC Corridor. The goal of the project is to have positive implications not only on the visual quality but also on the efficiency and functioning of the city.
Project Description
Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) is one of India’s first greenfield industrial Smart Cities, planned to perfection across an area of 10,000 acres in Maharashtra State, on the outskirts of Aurangabad.
The project involved the development of three options for each development after the conceptual phase. On approval of the client and value engineering exercise, further development of the tender packages was developed consisting of the execution drawings and related specific documents. The project also included a preliminary site visit to gain a better understanding of the physical conditions, transportation connections, access, and nature of the surrounding uses during different seasons. A detailed site assessment was conducted to understand the context of the site, topography, drainage pattern, surface water, wind, radiation, and rainfall to interpret the site profile and use the outputs while site design.
The goal is to create a high-quality, compact environment that promotes sustainable development and protects the ecological landscape.
Methodology
The site was assessed at the macro level and micro level as per baseline environmental status of the SIA area with respect to various parameters such as topography, vegetation pattern, ecological associations, geology, soil structure, drainage pattern, water quality, water inlets and overflow, sources of pollution, and more. An integrated planning approach was followed for preparing an environment-friendly and sustainable development by protecting the ecological landscape, using renewable energy, and establishing a well-connected system of transportation services integrating AURIC with the greater city of Aurangabad.
Outcome
The Landscape Master Plan for AURIC Shendra has set a precedent for sustainable development by protecting the ecological landscape, using renewable energy, and establishing a well-connected system of transportation services integrating AURIC with the greater city of Aurangabad. The project has also created a high-quality, compact environment in which people can work and live.
